i suggested to jp that since she was nice enough to ‘let’ me go out the other night, she should get her night out also. she opted for luka’s because their fries are her fave. (2nd place: a cote) one thing pretty rad about lukas is, at least tonight, they had five, yes, five different kinds of aioli on the menu.

i ordered the seafood platter which is not something i often do but it def hit the spot. i also ordered a cocktail which omg did not hit the spot unless that spot is my gag reflex. the cocktail menu looked pretty hacky but i thought i should give them a chance.

so i came home and attempted my version of the billionaire cocktail we had at adesso the other day.

2 oz bourbon
1/2 oz lemon
1/2 oz grenadine (equal parts sadaf pomegrante paste and ikea lingonberry syrup)
3 drops angostura bitters
1/4 tsp or long drizzle of sambuca or 4 drops peychaud bitters

pretty delicious but maybe too tart. the sadaf paste is like diesel strength sour-sweet, so i reduced the usual proportion of lemon. but maybe not enough. or maybe my grenadine should be 2:1 berry:pom.

edit: i forgot i had peychaud bitters! i should have used them.
