been on a few social outings lately. difficult and rare, these days.
rickhouse:
blue and red smash – bourbon, lemon, red and blue berries. excellent.
kentucky buck – bourbon and ginger/ginger beer, other stuff. also excellent.
favela – cachaca, lemon, coffee. not very good.
some kind of sling – gin, cherry heering, other stuff. also not [...]

some years ago, jp and i had a great first course at potager: some kind of delicious tomato tart that was savory, but sweet enough to be dessert. and so i have been wanting to try to make a tomato drink that captures that salty-sweet balance.

trip report: farmer’s market cocktail night, summer 2009

as mentioned in a previous post, cuesa has a farmer’s market cocktail night every quarter/season. tonight was their night of summer cocktails. overall, the drinks this time around were much better than last time; nothing was bad, many were very good.

idea: elephant eyebrows syrup

from this tablehopper knockoff newsletter, we learn of a bourbon and branch drink called elephant eyebrows which sounds like a basis for a good syrup: gin, garam masala, honey, lime, nutmeg.
