here’s what i took from kaiser penguin’s zombie recipe comparison: a zombie is a complex, carefully proportioned mixture of anything i want to put in it.
i had a hard time finding passionfruit juice, so i used santa cruz ‘passionfruit nectar’ which is a pretty sorry substitute.

experiment: peach, orgeat, bourbon foam; bourbon sour variant

2 oz vodka
1 oz lemon
3/4 oz orgeat
1/4 medium peach, muddled
2 dashes peach bitters
made this first. tasted good. though i’m starting to not love the taste of raw almonds in the orgeat (from a batch made this afternoon, with orange flower water, for the first time). i need to get apricot kernels.

recipe: beau retard

from a recipe by scott beattie (”beau regards”), he makes a special syrup.  as usual, i was too lazy to do such a thing.  i also only used five berries (frozen from back in the season) which yielded a distinct, but shallow, blueberry flavor, and a beautiful magenta color.
