congratulations on being this blogs first approved spam! :)

good call posting the recipe, you never know when some hack like me is going to fuck up a cocktail and blame it on the spirit. i played around with the proportions a little and found that, with the 10 cane rum, i personally preferred 2/0.75/0.75.

i like the product, and will get more today (maybe a lot), but only because it's on sale; i'm too cheap/indiscriminate to pay $35. i'd just as soon go with $15 appleton gold and/or a cachaca like leblon or sagitaba.

Good luck with the 10 Cane cocktails tonight. I know I'm biased, but I think the rum is fantastic, and you've chosen great drinks in which to showcase it. Here's my favorite recipe for a classic daiquiri:

2 oz. 10 Cane Rum
1 oz Fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz. Simple syrup

garnish: lime wheel
Combine all ingredients with cubed ice in a mixing glass. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a freshly sliced lime wheel.

Shit, that sounds good.

Last time I was in SF, my friends and I posted up at Alembic six nights in a row. We went other cocktail joints too, but we always wound up at Alembic for yet another Vice Grip.

what i know of rap wouldn't fill a bar spoon. (had to keep it on topic somehow) most of it sounds the same to me and not very interesting. yes, i've turned into a cantankerous old white man from the 50s.

there are exceptions, eg, outkast and of course busdriver. i've only heard 'fear of a black tangent', need to get his other albums.

Thanks for the link to Busdriver. No idea how I never came across that dude before. Am downloading his first album now. Head will explode shortly.

Just about all the rap I like comes out of the East Bay - Lyrics Born, Del, Hieroglyphics, etc - so it's nice to get some genetic diversity in the mix.

Benedictine is awesome. One of my favorite after-dinner drinks is a half cup of strong black coffee and shot of Benedictine, topped with wet cream. Holy crap.

There aren't really any that can stand up to the glory of the VH. The Whistler is good, but it's definitely tier below - it's still pretty new though. Bar DeVille apparently has a good cocktail program, but you wouldn't know it because it winds up packed wall-to-wall with PBR-swilling hipsters every weekend night and god help you if you want a decent drink then.

I am really into this peach punt e mes. I might try to find a way to get it to infuse in a more stable fashion.

I would like to see more cocktail bloggers say "jesus fucking almighty." That's the sort of thing I saw when I taste something good, at least.
