i have gone too far.
seriously, this went too far.
in everything i do–life, cooking, programming–i am terrible at conducting experiments. i forget about control groups. i change multiple variables at the same time. i make large batches of unproven recipes. why do i do this? why must i live like a fool?
flashback to younger years, one of the first things i learned to ‘cook’ was yogurt smoothies. they usually turned out pretty well, and so one day, emboldened with a successful track record, i made a half-gallon’s worth of smoothie using ’spiced apple’ yogurt. now–there is some part of this story i’m getting wrong, because, what were we doing with a large-sized container of spiced apple yogurt? or what did i do to yield a half-gallon of the stuff? anyway, it was nnnnnnastay. i was distressed. mom said i was responsible for drinking it because wasting food is a CARDINAL SIN. i worked on it a little each day, then after about a week it disappeared from the fridge. savior unidentified.
4 oz rum
2 oz seville orange juice
2 oz very ripe persimmon
3/4 oz sesame orgeat (would like to try pistachio)
1/8 tsp mae ploy red curry paste
even 1/8 tsp of the curry was way too strong. the drink didn’t taste bad (both pops and stuntman b finished theirs. i finished mine, though it was a mini-drink on account of my headcold or fever or whatever ailment i’ve got right now), but the red curry flavor was dominant.
were i to try this again, i would make my own paste, omitting garlic and dried shrimp. heh.
